Job Description

Managing and overseeing all produce Procurement for quality and preference on behalf of the company. The Procurement Officer is responsible for buying the required goods needed by the company in a timely and cost effective way. The position involves accurate forecasting, planning and time management and a high level of networking and negotiation with suppliers to ensure that best prices are achieved, without compromising quality standards or specifications.

General Requirement
  1. Research for new suppliers and knowledge of local markets and vendors around different regions of the country.
  2. Communicating actual & true quality observations of the produce to the CEO.
  3. Track price range as per season, purchasing activity and measurements.
  4. Ensure produce selected is properly received/issued without any discrepancies AND with authorized documentation.
  5. Manage/supervise procurement team/ processes.
  6. Strict Inventory Control and Management.
  7. Quality control to identify defective or unacceptable goods and services at each level of transfer.
  8. Lower costs while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications.
  9. Preparing daily reports of procurements & stock under your control in a safe and secure manner.
  10. Reporting to Senior Managers and Executives.
  11. Providing constant information of seasonal crops and engaging in good rapport with the suppliers.
  12. Managing transportation of equipment and relevant payments with detailed accountability.
  13. Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.
  14. Maintaining critical records, and ensure correct and accurate figures for goods received/ and issued are documented.
Specific Requirements
  1. Thorough knowledge of specification parameters for pulses, cereals and their seasons.
  2. Basic knowledge of computer applications and use of smart phones.
  3. Geographical & seasonal crop knowledge of Uganda.
  4. Hardworking and good negotiation skills.
  5. Be ready to travel around the country.
